Since 2020, mainly due to the sentiment of fear in travelling, tighter border controls, and limitations on flights, the number of Chinese outbound tourists saw a year-on-year decrease of\u00a0<strong>86.9%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nevertheless, despite the ongoing sever pandemic situation, this industry is expected to trigger a strong recovery in the following years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>But what will be the main trends shaping the future of Chinese outbound tourism?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following the outbreak of Covid-19, we expect to see an increased tendency towards\u00a0<strong>sustainable tourism<\/strong>, with\u00a0<strong>81%<\/strong>\u00a0of Chinese outbound travelers choosing a destination surrounded by\u00a0<strong>nature<\/strong>\u00a0and engaging in\u00a0<strong>outdoor activities\u00a0<\/strong>such as hiking, biking, and camping. In May 2021, searches for camping on\u00a0<strong>Xiaohongshu<\/strong>\u00a0were up by\u00a0<strong>230%<\/strong>\u00a0compared to the same period of 2020.\u00a0<strong>Ctrip<\/strong>\u00a0also reported that reservations for local area family camping were up by\u00a0<strong>206%<\/strong>\u00a0in the first half of 2021, compared to the same period in 2019. At the same time,\u00a0<strong>76%<\/strong>\u00a0of Chinese tourists showed the inclination to focus on\u00a0<strong>cities\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>cultures<\/strong>\u00a0during their trip, demonstrating the need to visit\u00a0<strong>landmarks<\/strong>\u00a0and try out<strong>\u00a0local food<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nevertheless, being this business industry very broad, it is also important to implement a market segmentation, analyzing the different consumer behaviors based on gender, age, geographic location, etc.\u00a0<strong>Diversified tourism\u00a0<\/strong>becomes very crucial when targeting\u00a0<strong>Gen-Z travelers<\/strong>. For this market segment,\u00a0<strong>theme parks\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>glamping trips<\/strong>\u00a0became their first attraction on\u00a0<strong>C-Trip<\/strong>\u00a0between January and August 2021.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Therefore, in order to successfully address the future changes of\u00a0<strong>Chinese outbound tourism<\/strong>, it is crucial to get prepared in advance and be ready when this business sector is going to restart again. Offering Chinese families guides in Chinese about recommended travel itineraries, develop small-groups packages, and promote themes parks in your destination are just some examples of a rewarding marketing strategy, which should also rely on\u00a0<strong>social media communication channels<\/strong>. As a matter of fact,\u00a0<strong>international live streaming\u00a0<\/strong>has received a lot of support by Chinese social platforms like\u00a0<strong>WeChat Channels<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Douyin<\/strong>, etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Case example<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Destination Ice Cream<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tourist destinations in China have been producing specific ice-cream shaped of Chinese traveling places.
